Island Aviation Services Ltd (IAS) becomes the travel partner for Laamu Baresdhoo
The Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (MITDC) and Island Aviation Services Ltd (IAS) has signed an MOU on the 09th October 2017 to assign IAS to provide dedicated flight services from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) to Laamu Atoll Gan for the purpose of providing low cost travel for visitors to the Integrated Tourist Project at Laamu. Under this MOU, Maldivian becomes the travel partner for Laamu Baresdhoo which will enable in providing significantly lower travel rates to the island. Detailed negotiations are ongoing between MITDC and IAS to finalize the travel fares and other related details, and are targeted for announcement within the next one to three months.
With the overwhelming support for the Baresdhoo Project since the opening of the opportunities for properties in September 2017, MITDC has maintain continuous rapport with the potential investors and travel costs have always remained a key area of concern raised by the potential investors.
MITDC believes that this MOU for the purpose of significantly lowering the travel fare rates, is a key accomplishment for the investors in ensuring the success of the first Integrated Tourist project in the Maldives.
Apart from this key milestone, MITDC remains committed to providing all avenues of support towards the investors to assist, foster and facilitate the success of their investment in the Baresdhoo Project.
Towards this end, MITDC is also working on finalizing the provision of utilities and other infrastructure services for the Project as well as investing in avenues to reduce the overall logistics and operational expenses of the investors. Details of these developments will also be made available once they are finalized. Applications for allocations for investment in Baresdhoo remain open until the 25th October 2017 with applications being received and awarded on a revolving basis until the final deadline.
Upon completion, Baresdhoo will have the capacity to cater to over 3,000 tourists. The Integrated Guest House Project is the realisation of President Yameen’s vision for Integrated Tourism in the Maldives.
