The Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (MITDC) and Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has signed an MOU on Sunday, 11th February 2018, to assign MWSC to provide temporary water and sewerage services in Laamu Baresdhoo. . MITDC’s Managing Director Mohamed Shahid and MWSC’s Managing Director Fazul Rasheed signed the agreement.
Under this MOU, MWSC will design, supply, and install the temporary water and sewerage services. Further, ensure the provision of continuous water and sewerage services to the contractors during the development period.
The project involves setting up a 50-tonne RO plant and a 70-tonne storage tank. The project will be completed in 30-45 days. Currently, MITDC is working in the designing stage of the properties with the investors. The construction stage if the project is to commence during the second quarter of this year.
Apart from this, MITDC is also working with MWSC on finalizing the provision of permanent infrastructure for electricity, waste, water and sewerage system and to provide total utility services in Laamu Baresdhoo.
Upon completion, Baresdhoo will have the capacity to cater to over 3,000 tourists. The Integrated Guest House Project is the realisation of President Yameen’s vision for Integrated Tourism in the Maldives.
